Kemalpaşa Cherry

Pelit Brothers, founder of Sevinç Patisserie, which is one of the symbols of Izmir; started to work in chicken and cherry cultivation in Kemalpaşa, in addition to the pastry sector. Over time, Pelit brothers, whose production declined as a result of the crisis in poultry rearing, concentrated on growing cherries. Today, various kinds of cherries continue to be produced on the Pelit Brothers' Farm.

Annual average of 50-60 tons of cherries are produced in Kemalpaşa and exported abroad. 

150 cherry producers in Kemalpaşa were eligible for EUREPGAP (European Retailers Association Good Agricultural Practices) certification.

Aims of cherry producers: To bring all cherry producers together and plan cherry production according to demand and improve quality.

In order to ensure the production of cherries in accordance with domestic and foreign market demand, which is high in quality and does not contain drugs, EUREPGAP study producer seminars of which were held in partnership with Izmir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and universities; was conducted.

Since the earliest cherry in the world is produced in Kemalpaşa, it is stated by experts that the climate and natural greenhouse conditions of the district are experienced.
