The upper point of the arch is extended to have a pointed arch shape and covered with a hipped roof. The trough of the fountain is a sarcophagus from the Hellenistic period. It is not used today.

The fountain is located in the square in front of the Hacı Turan (Kapan) Mosque on the Kapan Street in Yenice District of Urla region of İzmir. It was built in 1818 by Ahmet Bey.

The fountain, which was built in nineteenth century style, is similar to the ones in the city of Bursa with its arches connecting the eight columns. The fountain is covered with a wooden roof. In the wooden ceiling of the fountain, there are paintings frequently seen in nineteenth century civil architecture. Here there are various scenes reflecting the nineteenth-century Urla.

Urla – Marble Fountain

The fountain is located on Mustafa Kemal Street in Urla town center. It is also known as Marble Fountain or Çarşı (Bazaar) Fountain. It is constructed of decently shaped marble blocks. Located on a pedestal approximately fifteen to twenty centimeters above a rectangular floor, the fountain has a pyramid-shaped base from bottom up. A second base was built with rectangular marble blocks on this pedestal. On this second pedestal, a rectangular marble block was extended to give the shape of a crown. At the present time there is a flagpole installed on this block and a Turkish flag is raised.

The section between the conical pyramidal base and the obelisk is the part, which has the fountain function. The obelisk at the top is the part erected in memory of the Turkish War of Independence. Designed with four facades, there is one tap on each side of the fountain. In front of each of these taps there is one marble basin. Ornamental slabs of the taps are again made of monolithic marble blocks and the upper parts are shaped in a round arched form. On both sides of these ornamental slabs there is one rectangular marble block.
