Shaar Aşamayim Synagogue was built as a place of worship for the Jews who settled in Alsancak as a result of the spread of the Jewish community outside the Kemeraltı settlement. This synagogue, located at 1390 Street no7 in Alsancak district, is the most intensely used one after Beit Israel Synagogue. Since it has been continuously restored after the day it was built and changed according to needs, its original condition is not known exactly. Shaar Aşamayim Synagogue is not one of the Sephardic synagogues, it is structured under Italian influence and has a linear plan in church style. The main space of the building is reached by stairs leading up from the garden. Mehizah is located on the upper floor in the form of a mezzanine opposite the hekal wall. The ground floor is used as an additonal outbuilding. The construction system of Shaar Aşamayim Synagogue differs from the others.
The building was constructed as reinforced concrete. The dividing walls are made of bricks. The building has three floors. The ground floor is built with one floor height by itself and the first and second floors are built as a single volume. The ceilings are made of wood and the roof of the structure is wooden construction. The synagogue has double tevya. The platform and tora cabinet carrying the Tevya are semi-open spaces and they are located on the hekal wall. Tevyas are located on this platform, which is raised with two steps. The ceilings have been renovated. The interior of the synagogue is dominated by red colors. The interior of the synagogue is not rich in ornamentation, unlike the sephardic synagogues.
