Shalom Synagogue (Aydinli Synagogue)

Located on Kemeraltı Havra Street, the building is located on 927 street no 38, opposite to Algaze Synagogue. It is known that this synagogue was used during the period of Rabbi Hayim Eskapa and it was restored twice in 1800 and 1841. The building was made in 1500 and the great İzmir fire of 1841 was stopped in front of this synagogue. There is an inscription on the entrance of the building. The building is entered through a small garden. This building, which was built with a central plan in the first years, was transformed into a linear plan in later years whose outline was church-style planning. Mehizah portion is small. The synagogue is not used today. The ground floor of the building was built as stone masonry and the upper floor was built as a wooden carcass. The floor and ceiling are wooden and the roof of the structure is wooden construction. The main place of the synagogue is divided into nine rectangular parts by four columns carrying the raised ceiling of the space where the tevya is located. The portable tevya of Shalom Synagogue, which is lifted to the hecal wall, is located on a platform which can be climbed with six steps. It is covered with a maroon colored embroidered prayer rug. The ceilings are decorated with geometric forrns. The colors of the decorations, maroon colored embroidered covers covering the tora cabinet and tevya are the elements that give color to the interior.
