Saint Helen Catholic Church

In Karşıyaka, Helen Church, once known as "Cordelia", is the first Catholic Church. The church was completed in 1904 with the support of Count Nikolai Alliotti and it was built on the land allocated to the Catholic community of father Don Alfonso Vallery; who had lived in Karsiyaka in the late nineteenth century. The architect, who drew the plan of the church and conducted the instruction, was Raymond Pere. He had also drawn the plans of Konak Clock Tower and the famous arch of St. Polycarp Church. And it was also known that the Muslims living in Karşıyaka donated for the construction of this church. In 1968, the interior architecture of the church was renewed and the historical texture was preserved with special care.
